Dr. Ann Cools is an associate professor at Ghent University, Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy in Belgium. Since 2016, she has been working as a senior researcher at the Department of Sports Medicine at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. She is the founder and former president of the European Society of Shoulder and Elbow Rehabilitation (EUSSER) from 2008 to 2012.

Seminar content:

- The role of the kinetic chain in normal shoulder joint function, athletic performance, and causes of pain. The latest literature on scapular dyskinesia in relation to shoulder joint pathology, clinical observation of scapular dysfunction.

- Observation of scapular dysfunction, scapular dysfunction and mm., objective measurements of strength, normative data on strength variables, decision-making based on the "symptom reduction test model" and various types of scapular dyskinesia.

- Clinical reasoning and treatment skills based on 3 types of scapular dyskinesia positions, proprioceptive techniques for scapular position correction, stretching and soft tissue techniques for the pectoralis minor muscle, selection of specific exercises for muscle imbalance correction.

- Scientifically based rehabilitation protocol and guidelines for conservative and postoperative rehabilitation of the biceps mm. in cases of pathology, including SLAP lesions (exercise progression, eccentric training, plyometric exercises)

- Specific high-level exercises for gymnasts, collision sports, high-intensity sports, and scientifically based criteria for return to sport, including objective measurements for assessing shoulder joint range of motion and strength

- Conservative treatment of partial and complete rotator cuff tears and postoperative rehabilitation guidelines (exercises, taping, recommendations for resuming activities, RTS, RTP)

- Progressive, conservative treatment for patients with non-traumatic multi - directional instability – closed and open chain exercise approach, taping techniques
